Sex Toy Materials

Sex toys differ in the material used in creation. This will effect the longevity & effect of using the toy as well as maintenance & storage.

Jelly & Latex Sex Toys

Jelly & latex have been used in sex toy production for years. The jelly sex toy will be one of the cheapest items available to purchase, will have a soft feel & may give off a slight aroma when brought from the package. The chemical softeners (phthalates) will be contained in a jelly or latex toy which may carry health risks although this is not conclusive & is also contained in deoderants, cosmetics etc.  The jelly sex toy is cheap & cheerful & abundantly available. Jelly is a porous material so you will have to work hard to keep it clean & dry. Use a waterbased lube with a jelly toy.

Silicone Sex Toys

Silicone has been described as the cashmere of sex toy material. It is in the mid to high priced toy range & will last a long time with proper care. Silicone bends to the curves of your body & contains no dubious chemical content.  Silicone is hypoallergenic so great if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergies. Cleaning is much easier simply use a sex toy cleaner or even boil or put in the dishwasher if there is no battery compartment. Silicone warms to your body easily so gives a nice soft natural feel. Only use water based lubricant with silicone sex toys as silicone lubricant can break down the material. Most Designer sex toys are made from silicone & manufacturers such as Tantus even use platinum & medical grade versions for longevity.

Plastic

We are all familiar with the feel of plastic. Sex toys made from plastic are hard, smooth & sleek. They do not contain chemicals such as phthalates & are generally easy to clean with their solid lines. The plastic sex toy does tend to be nosier than softer material but carries vibrations easily through the toy.A beginners vibrator does tend to be made from plastic as the smaller versions at lower cost tend to be manufactured from plastic.

Glass & Ceramic

Glass & ceramic will also be familiar materials to you. Sex Toys manufactured from glass & ceramic are smooth, hard pieces usually dildos. Both Glass & ceramic toys can be cooled or heated to preference, are easy to clean (pop glass dildos in the dishwasher for a hot wash) contain no chemicals & are non porous. Glass Dildos are becoming increasingly popular with beautiful shapes & colours achieved. Ceramic dildos are often works of art in themselves with Lovemoiselle producing pieces of 'sensual art' from high grade ceramic.
